Macromedia announced a new online portal page today focused on getting developers information about products in development. This is a great move forward for Macromedia and should give us all additional insight into the future of Macromedia products.

The first new product to grace the pages of the Labs site is Flex 2. The site contains information of Flex Framework 2, Flex Builder 2 (Zorn), Flex Enterprise Services 2, Flex Charting Components 2, Flash Player 8.5 and ActionScript 3.

In this video Kevin Lynch demonstrates Zorn and how easy it will be to build RIAs in Flex 2.0 and Flash Player 8.5. If you look closely at his code you can see some E4X. ;)

I’ve published a new article at Community MX on using the scale 9 feature in Flash 8. Scale 9 is a new feature of Flash 8 that allows you to specify how you want a MovieClip to scale. A great example of how you can use this is to preserve the rounded corners of a box.
